Strategic Focus for Tuesday
United in His Sufferings! (Part 2) How great a PRICE!
“You know that a price was paid to redeem you from following the empty ways handed on to you by your ancestors; it was not paid with things that perish (like silver and gold), 19 but with the precious blood of the Anointed, Who was like a perfect and unblemished sacrificial lamb. 20 God determined to send Him before the world began, but He came into the world in these last days for your sake.”
I Peter 1:18-20
The true value of any object is ultimately determined by the price one is willing to pay for it. One doesn’t pay $25,000,000. for a $250. painting. Your ultimate value has already been established by the price paid by the Lord of the universe, well before you were born. This is the price your KINSMAN REDEEMER has paid to buy you back, before you ever committed your very first sin, never mind your last one. His is the only accurate measure by which your value as a person can be correctly ascertained.
He did not pay this high a price simply to forgive the sins that you commit, only to have the effects of Adam’s sin uncovered until you die and go to be with Him. He did not give up His life until every single thing Adam had lost for us was paid back in full! As a result, we can now stand again, naked and unashamed, before God.
If it was in the Garden of Eden, it is yours now! If it was not, it remains nailed to the cross.
If there is something that you are still carrying today, repent and send it back. If it tries to come back to you, to find its way in again, remember that the price for your freedom has already been paid…and tell it so out loud, “NO! You’re too late! It is finished! I’ve been REDEEMED!”…and then throw a hallelujah party for two – you and your beloved Bridegroom!
Let’s once again reflect on the PRICE that was paid for our REDEMPTION…
• Isaiah 52:14 Expanded Bible (EXB) Many people were shocked [astonished; appalled] when they saw him. His appearance was so damaged [disfigured; marred] he did not look like a man; his form was so changed they could barely tell he was human [ beyond the sons of man/children of humanity].
• Matthew 8:14-17 Expanded Bible (EXB) 14 When Jesus went to Peter’s house, he saw that Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed [lying down] with a fever. 15 Jesus touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she stood up and began to serve [waiting on] Jesus.16 That evening people brought to Jesus many who had demons [were demon-possessed]. Jesus spoke and the demons left them [drove/cast out the demons with a word/command], and he healed all the sick. 17 He did these things to bring about [fulfill] what Isaiah the prophet had said: “He took our suffering [sicknesses; weaknesses] and carried [bore; removed] our diseases.”
• 2 Corinthians 5:21 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) 21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
The next time you are tempted to say, or even think, “But you don’t know what I’VE been through”, immediately replace those thoughts with remembering what HE went through on your behalf!
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:4-5
- Peter 2:24 Expanded Bible (EXB) 24 Christ [himself] carried [bore] our sins in his body on the ·cross [ tree;] so we would stop living for [die to] sin and start living for what is right [righteousness]. And you were healed because of [by] his wounds.
- Galatians 3:13 Expanded Bible (EXB) 13 Christ took away [redeemed us from; bought our freedom from] the curse ·the law put on us [of the law]. He changed places with us and put himself under that curse [ …by becoming a curse for us]. [For; Because] It is written in the Scriptures, “Anyone whose body is displayed [ who is hung] on a tree is cursed [an executed man’s body was hung on a stake or tree for humiliation and warning; Paul here applies it to Christ’s crucifixion as the curse / judgment for our sin].”
“What the blood forgives, the body removes. The blood was shed, to forgive the act of your sin. The body was bruised, and beaten brutally, to take the effects and price of sin out of you. It’s the healing, redeeming Gospel of Christ.”
– Dan Mohler
This, and so much more, is what we are to remember, and receive into our own bodies, each time we take communion in remembrance of Him! Let us do that now, together…as we remember…celebrate…and believe!
