Strategic Focus for Monday
United in His Sufferings! (Part 1)
“I want to know Him inside and out.
I want to experience the power of His resurrection and join in His suffering, shaped by His death…”
In searching these scriptures pertaining to the description of Jesus physical and emotional experiences at the hands of His accusers and executioners, feel free to close your eyes. Take time to ponder each word. Allow yourself to recognize the ultimate price He willingly paid…for YOU… all that He bought back for you. Give Holy Spirit free reign over both your imagination and emotions, and write out scripture references for private prayer.
Questions to contemplate, repent of when necessary, and surrender at the foot of the cross, as you ponder just some of the sufferings of Christ. If the “shoe fits”, kick it off!!
“Like farmers plowing, they plowed over my back [The plowers plowed my back],
making ·long wounds [their furrows long].”
Psalm 129:3
• What is it that still leaves you feeling unworthy and ashamed?
• What has you convinced that you’re still just that old “sinner saved by grace” – perhaps just barely?
• When you compare yourself with others, perhaps even with those other intercessors on the Wall, what is it that constantly makes you feel as if you are “falling short of’ or “missing” the mark?
• For every question that used to, but no longer applies to you, express your deepest gratitude and joy to your heavenly Father! (Do it, even if it’s “just” in some way a little less than it used to be! You’re in the process of being set free, so REJOICE!!!
Psalm 22:14-18 Expanded Bible (EXB) 14 My strength is gone, like water poured out onto the ground, and my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax, [weak, formless]; it has melted inside me. 15 My strength has dried up like a ·clay pot [potsherd], and my tongue sticks to the top of my mouth. You laid me in the dust of death. 16 Evil people have surrounded me; like dogs they [a group of evil people] have trapped me. They have bitten [pierced; or shriveled] my arms [hands] and legs [feet].17 I can count all my bones; people look and stare at me.18 They divided my clothes among them and they threw [cast] lots for my clothing.
Let your mind take you back to the worst pain you have ever felt.
• If you have ever experienced the effects of physical shock in your body, listen from there.
• If you have ever experienced extreme loss of blood, allow your physical memories to take you back to that place, as you ponder His focus while suffering for you.
• Have you ever suffered from dry mouth, or dehydration? How about a bone or two, out of joint?
• Or have or do you now, feel completely consumed by your own physical appearance?
• Is or has your life been so overwhelmed by loss or grief, that you became almost to paralyzed by it to go on?
• Have ever been bullied until you had no idea what to do?
Allow yourself to become as closely united to Him in His suffering as your own life experiences, memories and anxieties
will allow you. Share what this experience is teaching you as you remember His great sacrifice on your behalf. Allow yourself to be open to change…and corrections…as you enter into His sufferings and your healing flows!

Written and submitted by Nancy Kruger, ID, who wrote: Let me first give credit where credit is due. This began to flesh out in my heart when Vicky from Minnesota brought up Psalm 129:3 during our hourly communion while the President was on his first trip abroad. Sophia from NJ asked her to lead communion the following night and after that, as I began to ponder on this further, Holy Spirit led me from one thing to another… to this. Thank you for the privilege / honor to take time to more fully flesh this out, not only for myself, but for the releasing of it to others!
