Praying for David’s Tent – Staff and Worship Teams
“The sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous”
Today, we lift up a special group that has been releasing praise and worship over our nation since Sept 11, 2015. Jason Hershey and the staff of David’s Tent have been “standing in the gap” for the United States, worshipping day and night, 24/7, through thick and thin, rain or shine, in both freezing and sweltering temperatures. They have continuously maintained David’s Tent as a gathering place for the Church of America where her people can publicly worship Jesus from the highest point of our nation – the grounds of the National Mall in Washington DC.
David’s Tent was inspired by King David, who pitched a tent near his palace and hired more than 4,000 worshipers to minister to the Lord there continually. This brought blessing on the whole nation. In like manner, David’s Tent DC is a national confession that Jesus is Lord of America and that we receive Him as such. In this modern-day David’s Tent, ministry to the Lord takes place day and night, making a statement that Jesus is Lord and enthroned above every area of our lives and nation.
“Yet you are holy, O you who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.” Psalm 22:3
David’s Tent welcomes worship teams from every tribe, tongue, nation, denomination, and all 50 U.S. states to help lead this great love song to Jesus. They’ve had nearly every imaginable musical style in past years – if it’s flowing from hearts that are in love with Jesus, it qualifies! They schedule in two-hour time blocks, and give preference to teams that commit to multiple days. Interested? Email Becca at worship@davidstentdc.org
The staff of David’s Tent is the backbone of this endeavor; as some of them move on after their “tour of duty”, new staff members must be added to the team. At this point, the staff is down to 15 (from what was once 40) and those that remain are stretched to the breaking point. Jason and his team need our prayers and support, so we on the 24/7 NSPC are today contending in prayer for a massive breakthrough…and a fresh wave of volunteers.
These are two scriptures from which we can mount our prayer offensive today on behalf of David’s Tent:
- Colossians 1:11 Strengthen them with Your infinite power, according to Your glorious might, so that they will have everything they need to hold on and endure hardship patiently and joyfully.
- Psalm 110:3-4 Your people will come as volunteers that day; they will be a sight to see: on that day, you will lead your army, noble in their holiness. As the new day dawns and dew settles on the grass, your young volunteers will make their way to you. The Eternal has sworn an oath and cannot change His mind: “You are a priest forever— in the honored order of Melchizedek.”
