Jeremiah 31:3

We sing: I Have Loved You with an Everlasting Love

I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have called you and you are Mine.

I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have called you and you are Mine.

Seek the face of the Lord and long for Him: He will bring you His light and His peace.

I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have called you and you are mine;

I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have called you and you are mine.

WELCOME THE KING OF GLORY INTO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

THE BATTLE TO SAVE AMERICA! – Part 132

The Returning of President Trump to the White House! – Part 16

“You shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness;

and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.“

Exodus 18:21

As we continue our celebration of Constitution Day, no reflection on our country’s founding would be complete without the mention of the most famous name in American history: George Washington. No one was more involved … from the American Revolution…to the Constitutional Convention to when we became a nation, and nobody did more than George Washington to assure this new nation was birthed correctly. As we read and pray into today’s focus, let us once again express our gratitude to God for those He placed in a position to enable this, our beloved nation, to come forth! Pray.

Even with his famous name, the full story of George Washington is not known by many. Few know that when he was a boy, his farmer father died, leaving him, his mother, and brother to figure things out. He was just a teenager when he started his own business as a surveyor. He also wrote a book, known as Washington’s Rules of Civility, in which he copied down 110 virtues (ie. lessons on manners, moral decency, and good behavior) which made him famous as a young man. He joined the military during the French and Indian War, then became a colonel in the Princeton War, and retired to go home to live at his beloved Mount Vernon. When the American Revolution broke out, as a member of the First Continental Congress, he was unanimously selected to be the Commander-in-Chief of our military. He got us all the way through the Revolutionary War, then turned in his commission after he’d led our forces to victory. At that time, many of his officers thought he should become king because they didn’t trust Congress … but Washington said we’d fought a war to get out from under kings, didn’t need one, and he turned in his resignation. An amazing act of humility…and recognition of what our nation needed! Pray.

Washington remained at home until it was recognized that the Articles of Confederation had failed, and Virginia sent him as their state’s delegate to the Constitutional Convention…where he was quickly chosen as the leader. It was his leadership that led all those in the room, who had been arguing constantly for weeks, to come to consensus about what should be done to give us a Constitution. At the end of the Convention, Washington was unanimously elected to be our first President. In fact, he was unanimously elected a second time, since the people recognized him as an incredible leader. At the end of his second term, he was again nominated as President for a third term. Washington firmly insisted that they NOT vote for him again, saying that we didn’t need somebody who constantly remained in power; we needed to turn the reins of government over regularly, in order to protect our young Republic. He stepped down after two terms! An absolutely amazing testimony to his character and selflessness! Pray.

Washington was just a young colonel during the French and Indian War when General Braddock was made Commander of the British army. Braddock had heard stories of Washington, and when he arrived in the colonies, he asked Washington to serve on his staff as the General’s “aide-de-camp” … (confidential assistant to the senior officer!) When Braddock was assigned to drive out the French forces from Ft. McCain, Washington was in charge of “the Virginia Buckskins”, a bunch of rednecks with guns who’d joined the military. When Braddock learned that Indians and French were setting an ambush in the woods for them, Washington wanted to send a scouting party ahead, to scope it out. General Braddock said he didn‘t need the help of “Washington’s friendly Indians” and when they were ambushed, every single officer was killed…except George Washington…who had two horses shot out from under him … was the only one to survive.

When General Braddock was shot down, Washington was given his position as Commander. Realizing what a terrible situation they were in, he immediately led them in retreating back to the fort, where he took off his jacket, he found four bullet holes through it. (Another report says that he was brushing his hair and bullet fragments fell out!) What was absolutely amazing miracle! Equally amazing is that several years later, a group of Indians met with him, and told him that years before, they were in those woods fighting against him. Their braves had been told to single him out, knowing if they could kill him, they would scatter and massacre all the troops. One chief told him that he had personally fired his rifle at Washington 17 times and didn’t know how he could have missed. He’d come all that way just to meet the man that God would not let die in battle! During his entire military career, he had many close encounters … yet God kept him safe through it all! Pray.

Among the most impressive traits of George Washington was his faith! Some think that he believed that God was a “Divine Providence” while others describe him as a “Deist,” yet he was always considered to be a Christian. There wasn’t any doubt about that, especially in the people that knew him. Numerous books have been written about George Washington’s Christian faith. One author, Jared Sparks, compiled the writings of Washington, including many of his letters, into a multi-volume set, and he also wrote to people that knew Washington personally to learn what he thought about various issues, specifically, where he stood when it came to Christianity. A family member, Nellie Parke Custis, granddaughter of George Washington’s wife Martha Custis, was adopted by the couple and came to live with them. She had a pretty good window into his faith and wrote: I should have thought it the greatest heresy to doubt his firm belief in Christianity. His life and his writings proved that he was a Christian. In my mind, there’s no doubt. I should give several examples why.” She concludes her letter saying: “Is it necessary that anyone should certify General Washington avowed himself to be a believer in Christianity, as well, may we question his patriotism?” According to Nelly, if you start questioning his Christianity, you might as well question his patriotism. That’s how clear his Christianity was. Nobody would question the patriotism of George Washington, but neither should we question his Christianity. Pray.

We turn now to look at the Bible’s influence on the US Constitution. The United States of America is literally the oldest ongoing Constitutional Republic. America’s Constitution is unique…and we are so blessed. Read the writings of the Founding Fathers and you’ll easily identify who they quoted, and where they got their ideas. A ten-year analysis of 15,000 of their writings (with 3,154 direct quotes) shows that the origins of American Constitutionalism came from millions of books, written over all recorded history with tens of thousands of sources of ideas.

  • The most quoted was Charles Montesquieu, a French political philosopher known for The Spirit of Laws (1748), one of the great works in the history of political theory and of jurisprudence.
  • The second most quoted was William Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Laws of England, in which he made the “common law” understandable to lay people.
  • The third most quoted was John Locke, an influential English Enlightenment thinker, commonly known as the “Father of Liberalism”.

Those were the top three quoted individuals, but the most cited source, four times more often than any individual cited, was the Bible! Pray.

Numerous ideas that formed this nation came from the Bible

A government with three branches? That goes back to Isaiah 33:22

For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us.”

Until the time of the framing of our Constitution, no nation had done what America did in separating the branches and having checks and balances. In writing about that, John Adams pointed to Jeremiah 17:9 as the reason that we created checks and balances and separation of powers.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”

How many today would know that Jeremiah 17:9 played such a role? Adams knew, and he actually wrote three letters saying the reason we can’t centralize powers is because “the heart of man is wicked deceitful” and “you can’t trust the heart of man” (as Jeremiah said.) Another Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton, wrote that they had been very clear on why we had separate powers of checks and balances and that was because of what the Bible taught in Jeremiah 17:9. Pray.

There are provisions to the Constitution that address the death penalty twice. It says you cannot put anybody to death for treason unless you have two or more eyewitnesses to the act. That wasn’t true in Europe … but we did it differently in America. Here, you have to have at least two witnesses. The Bible says you can’t put someone to death unless you have two witnesses: Deuteronomy 17:6.

Whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses;

he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness. ”

Pray.

Another provision in the Constitution is related to the way we choose a leader. What did God tell the Israelites? Those who rule over you need to have been born among you … (a natural-born citizen.) Our president must be a natural-born American citizen, but those who immigrate and have been here for a certain number of years, can become Senators or Representatives, and don’t have to be natural-born. Pray

It’s interesting that as we study the Constitution and the men who gave it to us, we see they were people of faith, who shaped the Constitution itself using principles from the Bible. All the due process clauses in the Bill of Rights (such as the right to a trial by jury, the right to confront your accusers, the right to compel witnesses on your behalf, the right not to incriminate yourself, and no hearsay testimony) all go back to the Geneva Bible, brought to America by the Pilgrims and Puritans to start a new legal system. It was famous for the commentaries written on the sides of the pages. Those commentaries were there in the 1500s, and we have been following the Bible since! The justice system of Europe did not follow what the Bible taught on justice, and the commentaries pointed out what was wrong and taught the right way to “do justice”…the Biblical way. Pray.

In America, we can confront our accusers which according to the federal practice’s procedure comes straight out of John 8:10

“Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

We also get to compel witnesses on our behalf, so the prosecution alone can’t present all the witnesses. One side sounds good until you hear the other side, The Bible says in Proverbs 18:17

The first one to plead his cause seems right, until his neighbor comes and examines him.”

All these provisions come out of the Bible…and as we conclude our observance of Constitution Day, we recognize that it goes back to men of faith, back to the Bible, and the influence of the Bible. The Constitution is a secular document that is built on faith and is faith-filled. There’s no doubt, that our Founders and Framers were influenced by faith and it’s pretty clear that the vast majority were people of faith, a blessing to be proudly aware of on Constitution Day. Pray.

We pray:

  • In gratitude for YOUR WORD, which is our foundation… and the foundation for this nation! Pray.
  • That President Trump will grow stronger in his love for YOUR WORD, and as You guard, guide, and govern his every word and action, he will be safe from all enemies, from without and within. Pray.
  • For all “standing in the gap” with our President, engaging in this BATTLE TO SAVE AMERICA, and rejecting the usurper and those pulling his strings in this faux administration. Pray.
  • For our elected officials to rise up and fight to rectify the fraud that took place in the 2020 election! Pray.
  • Protect and strengthen our 24/7 family and bring in new intercessors who are called to this assignment with us, to pray for our President and our beloved nation! Pray.
