Sep 16, 2022 – Notes Shabbat Call

09-16-22 Notes from the “International SHABBAT Celebration”

24/7 National Strategic Prayer Call

7-10 PM ET 712-770-4340 code: 543555 #

As we opened the call, we welcomed the Presence of God in our midst, and sang out to the Holy Spirit!

Holy Spirit, You are welcome in this place.

Holy Spirit, You are welcome in this place.

Maureen led us in receiving the full armor of God, which reflects His character and attributes, and is our provision for all that we have to face!

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,

and having done all, to stand.

 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”

Ephesians 6:13-18

We prayed corporately and received God’s full armor, for ourselves and all those that we love!

We continue with our reflections on the Month of Elul – Today is Elul 20

Prophet Micah and the Attributes of Mercy…

In reference to the Name El (ל אֵֵ), the prophet Micah does not refer to the One “who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in it” (Exod. 20:11 – For in six days, the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.) nor to the One “who counts the number of the stars and calls them all by name” (Psalm 147:4 – He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.), etc., but rather to the One who forgives and who delights to restore what is broken by means of His mercy and love. The work of redemption is greater even than the work of creation.

“Who is a God like You,

pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance?

He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in steadfast love.”

Micah 7:18

Like the first redemption of Israel out of Egypt, where the LORD was exalted above all so-called gods, in the future deliverance (of ethnic Israel) God reveals His grace and compassion, when the remnant of Israel shall be saved at the End of the Age. Note that the words here resemble the thirteen attributes of mercy given in Exod. 34:6-7, which reveal the meaning of the Name YHVH after the dreadful sin of the golden calf… In the same way, ethnic Israel will come to understand the love and forgiveness of God given in the gospel after the long period of spiritual exile.

The passage from Micah continues:

“He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot.

You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. You will show faithfulness to Jacob

and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old”

Micah 7:19-20

We reflected on this God of Mercy and Love, and prayed corporately into this message…then sang:

We sang: God of Wonders

Lord of all creation, of water, earth and sky,

the heavens are Your Tabernacle. Glory to the Lord on high!

God of wonders beyond our galaxy, You are Holy! Holy!

The universe declares Your Majesty, You are Holy! Holy!

Lord of Heaven and Earth! Lord of Heaven and Earth!

Early in the morning, I will celebrate the light.

When I stumble in the darkness, I will call Your Name by night.

Lord of heaven and earth! Lord of heaven and earth!

HalleluYah to the Lord of heaven and earth! HalleluYah to the Lord of heaven and earth!

HalleluYah to the Lord of heaven and earth!

God of wonders beyond our galaxy, You are Holy! Holy!

The universe declares Your Majesty! You are Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy!

 HalleluYah to the Lord of heaven and earth! HalleluYah to the Lord of heaven and earth!

HalleluYah to the Lord of heaven and earth!

There is None Like You

  • Debbie (TX) prayed and blessed the Lord, for there is none like Him!
  • Susan (GA) as we worship, the heaviness immediately starts to lift. Sang a new song about “KEEPING OUR EYES ON HIM!”

We sang: Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face,

and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace!

  • Kay (IL) rest in our spirits and receive from Him

Maureen exhorted us to hold on, hold out, not give in to the weary or heavy things that try to trip us up!

What is Teshuvah?

The theme of the Jewish High Holidays is teshuvah (ה תשובְְָָּּּׁ), a word often translated as”repentance,” though it’s more accurately understood as turning back (shuv) to God. The root of this verb occurs nearly 1,000 times in the Hebrew Scriptures and first occurs when God told Adam he would “return to the earth” (Gen. 3:19).

In spiritual terms, “shuv” may be regarded as both a turning away from evil and a turning toward the good, though Jewish thinking regards turning to God as the means by which we turn away from evil. This act of turning has the power to redirect a person’s destiny. It effects the whole life of the soul. As Abraham Heschel wrote, “No word is God’s final word. Judgment, far from being absolute, is conditional. A change in man’s conduct brings about a change in God’s judgment” (Heschel: The Prophets,194).

In the ancient Greek translation of the Jewish Scriptures (i.e., the Septuagint, or LXX), “shuv is translated using the word strepho (στρέφω), which means to turn around, or to turnback to God. The Greek word sometimes translated “repentance” is metanoia (μετάνοια), which literally means “changing your thinking” (from ‘μετα’ (after, with) and ‘νοεω’ (to think). It is often the word used to translate the Hebrew word nacham (ם נחַַָָ), often associated with the emotion of regret (in the old King James Version of the Bible, nacham is sometimes confusingly translated using the word “repent”).

The New Testament follows the LXX by using the Greek verb metanao (μετανοέω) to express the Hebrew idea of nacham (i.e., regret or repentance), and it uses the verb strepho (στρέφω) to express the idea of shuv (i.e., turning to God and away from evil).

Metanao means expressing regret and remorse over the bankruptcy of our personal philosophy of how the world should be run. We surrender to God’s truth, forsake the selfish demands of the ego, and “let God be God.” Strepho, on the other hand, is a literal or metaphorical turning. When applied to God, it means turning all of your “heart, soul, and strength” back to Him. Indeed, the LXX exclusively uses this word to translate the Hebrew word shuv, from which we get the word teshuvah.

In a sense, we can say that nacham/metanao concerns the past (regret), whereas shuv/strepho concerns the present...

While it is important that we “regret our thinking” (μετανοέω) and embrace the authority of God as the first principle in all our reasoning (λόγος ), it is equally important that we exercise our wills by turning to the LORD (στρέφω) through acts of repentance (e.g., prayer, confession, turning away from sinful practices, offering tzedakah, and so on). According to Jewish tradition, genuine teshuvah involves four basic steps:

Four Steps of Teshuvah:

1. Forsake the sin (Prov. 28:13 – He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.). “Sincere repentance is demonstrated when the same temptation to sin, under the same conditions, is resolutely resisted” (Talmud Yoma 86b). Note that according to traditional Jewish views, the atonement is of no avail without repentance (Midrash Sifra).[shuv/strepho]

2. Regret the breach in your relationship with God and others (Psalm 51). [nacham/metanoia]

3. Confess the truth and make amends with those we have harmed (Prov. 28:13; 1 John 1:9; James 5:16, Matt. 5:23-4). Note that we must ask for mechilah (forgiveness from others) before receiving selichah (forgiveness from God). [shuv/strepho]

4. Accept your forgiveness and move forward with the LORD through faith (Phil. 3:13-14; 1 John 1:9). Be comforted by the Presence of the LORD in your life: Nachumu: “Comfort ye my people” (Isa. 40:1). [nacham/metanoia].

Finally, it needs to be said that authentic repentance is a lifestyle, not a “one-time deal.” We never get past it. Although there is certainly spiritual progress as we walk in grace, all genuine progress comes through ongoing teshuvah. We may repent from a certain action at a given point in time, but that does not mean that we no longer need to do teshuvah. Teshuvah is perpetual and timeless since it corresponds to our spiritual lives rather than our temporal lives. Indeed, a true penitent is called baal teshuvah, a “master of returning,” who is always turning away from self and toward God. We never get beyond the call to “repent and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15).

That is why the season of teshuvah is always timely. The message of Elul and the High Holidays is meant to be carried over throughout the rest of the year.

Confession (ὁμολογία) means bringing yourself naked before the Divine Light to agree with the truth

about who you are. Indeed, the verb homologeo (ὁμολογέω) literally means “saying the same thing” – from ὁμός (same) and λόγος (word).

In Modern Hebrew, teshuvah means an “answer” to a shelah, or a question. God’s love for us is the question, and our teshuvah – our turning of the heart toward Him – is the answer. Teshuvah is one of the great gifts God gives each of us – the ability to turn back to Him and seek healing for our brokenness.

“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper,

but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”

 Proverbs 28:13

We sang: We Love You, Lord!

We love you, Lord, and we lift one voice, to worship You, and our souls rejoice!

Take joy our King in what You hear, may it be a sweet, sweet song in Your ear!

We continued in song and prayer corporately, then took individual prayers:

  • Bev (MT) prayed into this time of repentance and mercy
  • Sharill (CO) thrilled with the emphasis on teshuvah. Thought of the song that exhorted us to lift our arms and hands to the Lord!

Turning, Turning, Turning…

So how do we prepare for Rosh Hashanah? Traditionally we prepare through three types of turning:

1) turning to God (offering tefillah);

2) turning to others we’ve harmed or offended (asking for mechilah),

3) turning to those in need (giving tzedakah).

In all three cases, we can genuinely return to God only by choosing to embrace the truth about our lives. Our tefillot (prayers) are offered in the plural, emphasizing that we are all interconnected. This is the idea of kol Yisrael arevim zeh bazeh: “All Israel is responsible for one another” (Talmud Shavuot 39a). We are all one “body” and should one member hurt, we all are diminished (1 Cor.12:26). Avinu Malkenu – “Our Father, our King…” “Our Father in heaven, holy is Your Name,” as Yeshua taught us. We are all one!

Our teshuvah means that we honestly examine ourselves and repair any breach we might have created in our relationships (James 5:16). And our tzedakah means that we turn away from ourselves entirely, considering the needs of others and their welfare instead of our own.

The month of Elul is the month set apart for repentance, or teshuvah, in spiritual preparation for the High Holidays (i.e., Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur). The “Season of Teshuvah” runs forty days from the first of Elul to Yom Kippur. Each day the shofar is sounded we appeal to the LORD for the gift of genuine repentance in our lives. The last ten days of this 40-day period (beginning on Rosh Hashanah and ending on Yom Kippur) are referred to as the “High Holy Days” or the “Days of Awe” – (Yamim Nora’im).

Some of the sages say that the sin of refusing to do teshuvah is worse than the actual sin itself since the sin was committed at a time when you were overcome by your evil inclination, but now you can look back dispassionately over your actions in confession and remorse (Psalm 32:5; James 5:16; 2 Cor. 13:5).

Teshuvah means “answering” to God regarding the truth of your condition. If we genuinely return to the love of our Heavenly Father, we will hate our sins because they were acts of treason against His love.

How many “Rosh Hashanahs” will there be in your life? How many opportunities for you to return to the LORD? The Talmud says, “Repent one day before you die.” But who knows the day of one’s death in advance? Therefore, live each day as if it were to be your last, and “seek LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.”

Tonight, we declare a HOMECOMING as we turn from ourselves…and turn back to God!

Lord, have mercy on us!

Lord, have mercy on us. Come and heal our land.

Cleanse with Your Fire, heal with Your Touch. Humbly we bow and call upon You now.

Oh, Lord, have mercy on us. Oh, Lord, have mercy on us.

  • Bobby (WI) sang “create in me a clean heart, O Lord!”
  • Debbie (TX) reveal any and everything in my life that is keeping me from being all that I can be for You!

Jesus only said and did what He heard and saw His Father doing. Help me to walk with You in this way.

  • Janice (AZ) feeling a peace and calmness that is surrounding me right now. Thank You, Lord.
    • Maureen said she had prayed that for Janice earlier…asked and answered!
  • Bobby (WI) there is a different answer for each of us, a right fit, but we need to reach out to Him to receive it!
  • Cindy (CT) thanked God for this night, for the teaching, and how much she’s getting out of it!
  • Kim (NY) offered a prayer of thanksgiving and of appreciation
  • Mary Ellen (IL) No words for this…the peace is so strong!
  • Abigail (MI) it’s been an all-day experience, and it’s intensifying…like an explosion of the Spirit of God upon us! HalleluYah!
  • Susan (GA) there are so many pieces and moving parts, and You bring them all together! Envelop us to develop us!
  • Bev (MT) walking by a pond, and it’s totally still….and she heard that His SHALOM passes all understanding. There is always more to know about YOU!
  • Bernadette (NY) She recognized that she has wrong attitudes in her heart. She is sick with COVID and is in bed., and her husband is preparing to go on vacation with his sister, and she will be alone for a week!
    • We prayed for Bernadette, and applied that prayer to ourselves as well…for PEACE / SHALOM!

 We Stand in Awe of You!

You are beautiful beyond description, too marvelous for words…

too magnificent for comprehension, like nothing ever seen or heard.

Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom, who can fathom the depth of Your love?

You are beautiful beyond description, Majesty enthroned above!

And we stand, we stand in awe of You. We stand, we stand in awe of You.

Holy God, to Whom all praise is due…we stand in awe of You!

~~~
As we rest in our experience of this SHALOM, in the Presence of the Lord tonight, our desire is to extend it to the entire nation! Pastor Ioan noted that for us, the word SANCTUARY is HOLY and evokes visions of God in His Holy Temple! Yet there are many who will never experience His PEACE as long as they are bound by the darkness and serving demonic purposes!
This week, a group of illegal aliens were flown by FL Governor DeSantis to Martha’s Vineyard, a prime vacation destination for the rich and famous, where they can be exclusive with others like themselves (far left libs who are their own gods). (Not much “diversity”!) The residents were aghast at them being dropped off into their community…and the sign below, though its souls magnanimous, is a complete farce! All these Martha’s Vineyard hypocrites are really saying: ”Do as I say, not as I do!”
Hillary Clinton says DeSantis flying Illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard and that it is “literally human trafficking”
We prayed for God’s intervention, that He would grant us His peace in this nation!
  • Janis (MA) asked that the blind eyes of the people of this nation would be open to the truth, and when they hear those making lying statements, like Clinton, they will recognize the lies and reject it!
  • Sharon (Paraguay) prayed into this
  • Gloria (NJ) asked that other Republican Governors do likewise
Maureen exhorted us to rise up in prayer to throw off the darkness that is empowering and enabling those behind the machines used in the fraudulent elections. Restrict and restrain them, Lord, and let us not repeat the same things we have done, using machines, and expect to have different results. We must remove this cancer in order to have fair and free elections!
  • Mary Ellen (IL) asked for prayer for David Clements and for her state of Illinois
  • Nina (MI) prayed for IL and for purity in the elections
  • Ray (FL) remove the evil from our land! We need a miracle and we stand on our covenant with You, and stand on that covenant as ONE NATION UNDER GOD, and we decree and rule in Your authority to remove all evil. Remove the tares from the fields that are white unto harvest! Release Your angels to do that supernaturally! Let it be a move of God!
  • Jim (CA) when You went into the Temple, Jesus, you saw the corruption and made a whip and drove out the evil. Do that again, Lord, for our nation!
  • Peter (FL) we use the key that You gave us as Your EKKLESIA. We make this declaration that the heavens are open to us, the wells of revival are open, and the streams of faith of believers are coming together to flood the land, bringing love and life to reestablish the Kingdom of God here on earth as it is in heaven!
  • Carol (IL) We need to educate some of these candidates who do not know all that we do, because of being on this call!
    • Maureen exhorted us to speak up and speak out to those who do NOT know the TRUTH!
  • Mary Ellen (IL) Keep on listening to the Spirit and do as He tells us.
Pastor Ioan said that yesterday, David Clements did an interview and expressed how he has been attacked by those in the fake media and the forces that are supporting them. He is being pursued from place to place, and under tremendous pressure! They are threatening his family, even taking pictures of his young children, and there are lawsuits trying to take away his law license! They are trying to destroy him and all those who are fighting for righteousness and justice.
We were reminded of our continuing prophetic proclamation, declaring:
The Returning of President Trump to the White House!
We herald and proclaim the return of our lawful President now,
in advance of it actually taking place. It’s getting more and more critical every day!
~~~

We give thanks for the judge on the Mar-a-Lago raid case who has now appointed a Special Master – NY Judge Raymond Dearie – to the case, who immediately gave the DOJ a blow and the Trump team a WIN!

A former veteran chief federal judge from Brooklyn, New York has been appointed as the special master to review documents seized at former President Trump’s Florida estate in Mar-a-Lago. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon appointed Raymond Dearie after Trump requested an independent review of thousands of documents marked classified that were recovered by law enforcement. Cannon, a Trump appointee, also refused a Justice Department request to lift her temporary prohibition on the department’s use of the roughly 100 classified records that were taken during the Aug. 8 search.

The Justice Department is expected to contest the judge’s order to a federal appeals court. It had given Cannon until Thursday to put on hold her order barring the continued review of classified records, and said it would ask the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to intervene if she did not do so then.

Dearie will be tasked with reviewing and segregating out any documents covered by claims of privilege. It is not clear how long the review will take. The special master process has already delayed the investigation, with Cannon directing the Justice Department to temporarily pause core aspects of its probe. The Justice Department is investigating the hoarding of top-secret materials and other classified documents at the Florida property after Trump left office. The FBI says it recovered more than 11,000 documents from the home during its search, including roughly 100 with classification markings. Dearie, who was nominated by Ronald Reagan in 1986, also served as the top federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York in the 1970s.

We prayed for President Trump, and for the TRUTH to be revealed.

~~~
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: “Joe Biden is draining our Strategic Petroleum Reserve and selling it to our enemies. On Monday, I’m introducing articles of impeachment to hold him accountable.”
~~~

The Senate won’t vote on the “Respect for Marriage Act” until after elections. (They do not have the votes to pass it!) We pray and believe for a righteous wave of conservatives to be elected at mid-term that will kill this bill and all other bills with such dangerous agendas!
