We begin our hour by praising and giving thanks to God! 

“In that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, 

for sin and for uncleanness.

We sing: Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing 

Come, Thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace.

Streams of mercy never ceasing call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above.

Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it, mount of Thy redeeming love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer, here by Thy great help I’ve come.

And I hope by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.

The key assignment for the 24/7 National Strategic Prayer Call is to intercede hourly 

for the safety and security of our duly elected President, Donald John Trump, 

and to pray for that which pertains to our nation!

We pray for his protection, for our First Lady, Melania, and their marriage

 and for all the members of their family. 

We cover them all with the Blood of Jesus.

We ask that in every situation and decision, President Trump will be led by the Holy Spirit!

The President’s Advisory 1776 Commission Report – Part 8

 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.  

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Frederick Douglass was an escaped slave who became an author, orator and national leader in the abolitionist movement in the mid-late 1800s. He was quoted as saying: 

Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one’s thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist.  

That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants.  It is the right which they first of all strike down.”

We praise God for that blessed right being protected by our 1st Amendment, and pray it is forever in place!  Pray.

Today, as we continue our study of the 1776 Commission Report, we will be looking at the first of three deadly “-isms” each of which restricts “the right to utter one’s thoughts and opinions!Let us reflect upon the first – progressivism – and then take our time to pray about it thoroughly on behalf of our nation! No need to rush.

Progressivism

In the decades that followed the Civil War, in response to the industrial revolution and the expansion of urban society, many American elites adopted a series of ideas to address these changes called “Progressivism”. Although not all of one piece, and not without its practical merits, the political thought of Progressivism held that:

  • the times had moved far beyond the founding era that contemporary society was too complex any longer to be governed by principles formulated in the 18th century. Pray.

To use a contemporary analogy, Progressives believed that America’s original “software” – the founding documents – were no longer capable of operating America’s vastly more complex “hardware”: the advanced industrial society that had emerged since the founding.  Pray.

More significantly, the Progressives held that truths were not permanent but only relative to their time. They rejected the self-evident truth of the Declaration that all men are created equal and are endowed equally, either by nature or by God, with unchanging rights. As one prominent Progressive historian wrote in 1922:

“To ask whether the natural rights philosophy of the Declaration of Independence is true or false, 

is essentially a meaningless question.” 

Pray.

Instead, Progressives believed there were only group rights that are constantly redefined and change with the times. Indeed, society has the power and obligation not only to define and grant new rights, but also to take old rights away as the country develops. Pray.

Based on this false understanding of rights, the Progressives designed a new system of government

  • Instead of securing fundamental rights grounded in nature, government, operating under a new theory of the “living” Constitution, should constantly evolve to secure evolving rights. Pray.
  • In order to keep up with these changes, government would be run more and more by credentialed managers, who would direct society through rules and regulations that mold to the currents of the time. Pray.

Before he became President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson (Dem) laid out this new system whereby “the functions of government are in a very real sense independent of legislation, and even constitutions,meaning that this new view of government would operate independent of the people. Pray.

Far from creating an omniscient body of civil servants led only by “pragmatism” or “science,” though, progressives instead created what amounts to a fourth branch of government called at times the bureaucracy or the administrative state. Pray.

This “shadow government” never faces elections and today operates largely without checks and balances. The Founders always opposed government unaccountable to the people and without constitutional restraint, yet it continues to grow around us. Pray.

Hold on, my friends, to the Constitution and to the Republic for which it stands.

Miracles do not cluster, and what has happened once in 6,000 years, may not happen again. 

Hold on to the Constitution, because if the American Constitution should fail, 

there will be anarchy throughout the world.”

We pray:

  • That the people of this nation will awaken to the evil “-isms” that are menacing our nation, in particular, progressivism,  and that it will be removed totally from our land…and replaced by PATRIOTISM! Pray. 
  • That progressivism will be shown for the evil that it is, and those in every branch of government who try to advance it will be removed by the American people and replaced. Pray. 
  • That President Trump will take a firm stand against progressivism and any other “-ism” that would seek to undermine our values and beliefs and destroy our nation. Pray.
  • That we will soon hear that we have an “appointed place” and an “appointed time” for our meeting with our President!  Pray.
