*The key assignment for the 24/7 National Strategic Prayer Call is to intercede hourly for the safety and security of our President and to pray for that which pertains to our nation!
Father, we come before You, asking that You protect and secure our President, Donald Trump,
his wife Melania, their son Barron and their extended family.
Teach him Your ways and cause him to desire to serve You with his whole heart and soul.
Cover our Vice President Mike Pence, his wife Karen and their family,
and all those in the Trump Administration who are serving You and our nation! Thank You, Lord!
Strategic Focus for Wednesday
WELCOMING THE KING OF GLORY into the UNITED STATES
RESTORING the CHRISTIAN FOUNDATIONS of the UNITED STATES
Protecting our Religious Liberty
“I called on the Lord in distress; the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.”
Psalm 118:5
Finally! “Good News”! At a time when corruption, collusion, undermining and outright treachery is bombarding our senses every day, it’s refreshing to hear praise reports…which we expect will begin to DRAMATICALLY INCREASE in the coming days! Hearing about “happy endings” gives people a sense of security, and what God is doing now, through the leadership he has placed in the Oval Office, is quite remarkable. There are open doors that have previously been shut, and access is being granted to those who have the authority and power to correct wrongs and right injustices. Three such stories are being covered in our focus today.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is finally protecting religious liberty. Everyone should be free to live out their faith through their work, in the marketplace, and in the public square. That’s what a proper understanding of religious freedom is all about. We joyfully celebrate the EEOC’s enforcement of religious freedom protections and are encouraged to finally to see the government protect faith, and not impose conditions on it by forcing Christians to either give up their beliefs or leave the marketplace. Here are the three recent situations where religious liberty was challenged and preserved. Read through each one – then pray into it – and for other similar situations.
1) Decostar, which sells car parts, certainly didn’t mind “applying the brakes” to religious freedom… but thanks to the EEOC, the company is having second thoughts about intolerance…now that it’s on the losing side of an important settlement. Dina Velasquez asked repeatedly for an accommodation between Friday and Saturday nights, when the practice of her faith bars her from working. The manufacturer she worked for agreed…until a new supervisor was hired. This new person demanded she be at work, even though it violated her beliefs. She refused; they fired her. Velasquez filed a discrimination complaint with the EEOC, and the state’s commission sided with her, saying it is unconscionable and unlawful for employers to force members of their workforce to choose between their livelihood and their religion.
The company was required to adopt a new policy for religious accommodations, along with training so that no one in the company infringes on another’s sincerely held beliefs. This settlement shows the EEOC’s (newfound) dedication to the protection of religious freedom in the workplace, as well as the company’s commitment to prevent similar circumstances from arising in the future.
Pray: for all those who are oppressed and persecuted for their faith in the workplace, and driven from their well-earned positions! Pray that the EEOC will be led by God to arise and defend them!
2) In another high-profile religious liberty case, involving North Carolina Magistrate Gayle Myrick, her supervisor initially agreed to a schedule compromise so that she wouldn’t have to perform same-sex weddings. Later, they decided to let her go…and subsequently, the EEOC ordered the state to pay her more than $300,000 in back pay. The EEOC under Trump is gradually becoming a force for good in instances when faith-loving Americans are persecuted.
Pray: That those who are in the positions of supervisors will protect, rather than hurt, their employees….and when they don‘t, the EEOC will correct and remedy each situation!
3) Finally, in the small town of Beloit, Ohio, bullies from the Freedom from Religious Foundation (FFRF), (anti-Christian activists), were on the prowl for a rural area where locals could easily be intimidated on issues of faith. The FFRF atheists fired off a letter to the School Superintendent ordering the school to stop praying before sporting events — or else! School officials, though upset at the thought of ending a tradition that had gone on for years, finally agreed, since they couldn’t afford a lawsuit.
The community rallied to the side of the students, who were fighting back by selling more than 4,000 “Prayer Matters” shirts (in a town of 900 people)! One mom said: “They don’t know us, have never attended a West Branch sporting event, or even stepped foot in our community, yet they believe they can tell us to stop [praying]. That just doesn’t seem right.”
At Friday’s home basketball game, fans everywhere could be seen wearing “Prayer Matters”… the message that atheists so desperately want to silence. A local pastor said they were having more conversations about prayer and about the Gospel, the Good News about Jesus Christ, than ever before. As for the prayers, students took over and asked fans to have a moment of silence after the National Anthem.
What all these “activists” meant for evil, God meant for good. A Christian defense law firm, First Liberty Institute, has attorneys on the ground to find a way to restore the students’ religious freedom. Let’s cheer on the hundreds of families across that small, northeast town who know that no earthly power can stop God’s people — not from taking a stand and certainly not from praying!
Pray: that all who stand for freedom of religion will find others standing with them, and together, we will prevail! Let us encourage each other to speak up and speak out! No fear!
