HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
“A CALL TO THE WALL…ONE NATION UNDER GOD”
1-712-770-4340 Code: 543555 # (Ongoing call…24 hours a day!)
We begin our hour by praising and giving thanks to God!
I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the Name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord, now, in the presence of all His people, in the courts of the Lord’s house,
in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 116:17-19
We sing: Give Thanks
Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.
And now let the weak say, “I am strong.”
Let the poor say, “I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us”
And now let the weak say, “I am strong.”
Let the poor say, “I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us”
Give thanks with a grateful heart.
Let the poor say, “I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us”
Give thanks…give thanks…give thanks!

Strategic Focus for Thursday
WELCOME THE KING OF GLORY INTO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
The Restoration of the American Republic – Part 15
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
Philippians 4:6
No American holiday is more universally honored or the cause for as much goodwill and family togetherness as Thanksgiving Day. This year is the 400th anniversary of the first Pilgrim thanksgiving feast – which became a model for our national day of gratitude to God. Celebrated each year on the fourth Thursday of November, this American tradition of a special day of thanksgiving has as its foundation in the Pilgrim’s celebration of their first successful harvest in 1621, as they gave God thanks with grateful hearts in the new world! Pray.
Today, however, what should be a day of profound gratitude occurs in the midst of a deep crisis of national amnesia concerning the life, liberty, and history of the United States. At a moment when we should be reminding our children of the many mercies experienced by this highly imperfect but God-blessed nation, the trend is a rejection of patriotic gratitude in favor of cultural self-loathing, the revision of American history, and the desecration of our monuments, flag, and anthem. We commit anew this day to seeing that curse reversed and to the restoration of the American Republic! Let us give thanks together corporately, then take time to offer individual prayers of gratitude for what God has done, and is doing …and thanking Him in advance for all that He will do! Pray.
That first Thanksgiving is steeped in myth and legend. The Pilgrims did not celebrate Thanksgiving the next year, or any year thereafter, though some of their descendants later celebrated “Forefathers Day” December
21st or 22nd. Several Presidents, including George Washington, proclaimed one-time Thanksgiving holidays, but in 1863, it was our beloved 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, who made it a national holiday. Pray.
This year, 2021, marks the 400th anniversary of that celebration. Over the centuries millions of Americans have followed the example of the Pilgrims, with the result that Thanksgiving Day has become the great American tradition of American families stopping from work to celebrate and give thanks for the mercy and goodness of God. Pray.
There are only two original writings documenting the first Thanksgiving (since only fifty souls survived the first winter on Cape Cod). A first-person account was written by William Bradford in his journal titled “History Of Plymouth Plantation”. About twenty years after Bradford’s History was rediscovered in 1854, after having been taken by British looters during the Revolutionary War, prompted a greater American interest in the history of the Pilgrims. It is also in this account that the Thanksgiving turkey tradition is founded.
“They began now to gather in the small harvest they had, and to fit up their houses and dwellings against winter, being all well recovered in health and strength and had all things in good plenty.
For as some were thus employed in affairs abroad, others were exercising in fishing,
about cod and bass and other fish, of which they took good store, of which every family had their portion.
All the summer there was no want; and now began to come in store of fowl, as winter approached,
of which this place did abound when they came first (but afterward decreased by degrees).
And besides waterfowl, there was a great store of wild turkeys, of which they took many, besides venison, etc. Besides they had about a peck of meal a week to a person, or now since harvest, Indian corn to that proportion, which made many afterwards write so largely of their plenty here to their friends in England, which were not feigned but true reports.”
Pray.
A second original account was contained in a passage from a letter written by Pilgrim Edward Winslow, dated December 11, 1621, to a friend in England.
“Our corn [i.e. wheat] did prove well, and God be praised, we had a good increase of Indian corn,
and our barley indifferent good, but our peas not worth the gathering, for we feared they were too late sown.
They came up very well, and blossomed, but the sun parched them in the blossom.
Our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling,
that so we might after a more special manner rejoice together, after we had gathered the fruit of our labors;
they four in one day killed as much fowl, as with a little help beside, served the company almost a week,
at which time amongst other recreations, we exercised our arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us,
and among the rest their greatest King Massasoit, with some ninety men,
whom for three days we entertained and feasted,
and they went out and killed five deer, which they brought to the plantation and bestowed on our governor,
and upon the captain, and others.
And although it be not always so plentiful, as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God,
we are so far from want, that we often wish you partakers of our plenty.
We have found the Indians very faithful in their covenant of peace with us;
very loving and ready to pleasure us: we often go to them, and they come to us;
some of us have been fifty miles by land in the country with them.”
Pray.
As we celebrate this 400th anniversary of the Pilgrim thanksgiving in 1621, we offer our gratitude for the streams of blessing which flowed from Plymouth to our nation and the world. This weekend, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, there are several events marking its 400th anniversary. These events are sponsored by the Leyden Preservation Group, a Godly non-profit whose vision is to “shape the future by developing a greater understanding of the foundations of religious liberty in America and a providential view of history.” A public prayer service will be held at their historic Memorial Hall, and live-streamed at 400th.org They describe it this way:
“Four hundred years ago, two cultures joined in friendly recreation, a three-day feast,
and the giving of thanks to their Creator for His provisions in 1621.
It is time to gather families together again, across cultural, racial and ethnic lines
to give thanks to God for the liberties we enjoy,
and pray that they will be preserved for our children and grandchildren.”
Pray.
A great mantle was placed on this nation with the declaration of the Pilgrim Fathers that they would be a covenantal people of faith, committed to generational faithfulness and missionary zeal. Our Thanksgiving Day is worthy of the remembrance of what rests on this foundation. Today, may we all rejoice in sharing in that legacy of vision, evangelism, civil and religious liberty, and national gratitude. Pray.
We pray:
- That as families and friends gather today, we will follow the Pilgrim’s example, and applying the “antidote” of gratitude, make our Thanksgiving dinner tables an altar of special gratitude to God for the mercy and grace He has extended to this nation. Pray.
- That a fresh wind of the Spirit would sweep over this land, restoring the love of God and country which will enable us to regain the original freedoms that our Founders fought so valiantly for! Pray.
- That God will bless and prosper those who, like the Leyden Preservation Group, put on events that preserve our Godly heritage and the true history of our nation. Pray.
- That every effort to rewrite this nation’s history, including describing the pilgrims as ‘racist’ and cruel, will backfire. Pray.
- That God would be honored and glorified this Thanksgiving as we release the LOVE of GOD from our hearts over this nation, and the sound of thanks and praise rise up from all across the nation. Pray.
- We release the LOVE OF GOD over those faux leaders, including Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, and Fauci, and all who are now children of darkness, that they might be saved and enter into His Glorious LIGHT! Pray.
- For an “appointed place” and an “appointed time” for our meeting with President Trump! Pray.
