We begin our hour by praising and giving thanks to God!

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

Psalm 95:6

We singCome, Now is the Time to Worship

Come, now is the time to worship. Come, now is the time to give your heart.

Come, just as you are, to worship. Come, just as you are, before your God…come!

One day, every tongue will confess You are God. One day, every knee will bow.

Still the greatest treasure remains for those who gladly choose You now.

Come, now is the time to worship. Come, now is the time to give your heart.

Come, just as you are, to worship. Come, just as you are, before your God.

Oh, come… come…come!

Strategic Focus for Tuesday

WELCOME THE KING OF GLORY INTO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

The Battle Spreads Throughout the Nation! KADIMA! – Part 22

“Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Go  therefore and make disciples of all the nations

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;

and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matthew 28:18-20

Bishop Joshua Lwere is the General Overseer of the National Fellowship of the Born Again Pentecostal Churches in Uganda, which has a membership of 30,000 churches (and comprises nearly 10% of the population of Uganda.)  His passion is discipling nations. He is working with Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, a professed and active Christian, whose work and life is driven by her faith. We have transcribed what he shared on Andrew Wommack’s program on April 20th, to pray on behalf of our own nation! Our dear brother and sisters in Uganda experienced much suffering under demonically driven dictatorships…for many years…and now, the nation is flourishing as the GOSPEL flourishes!

Ugandan Bishop Joshua Lwere shares about discipling nations.

Bishop Lwere noted that in 1979, after dictator Idi Amin was overthrown, as the churches started up again, an evangelistic revival swept through their country. Many came to the Lord and there were Christians everywhere who professed: “Jesus is Lord! HalleluYah.” Yet that was basically an emotional response…they were passionate, but didn’t know the Word.

After so many years of pain, HIV, and civil wars the people were hungry for the Lord. In February 1990, a minister in the government of Uganda, who had been praying for his nation everyday for 34 years, called the pastors to a meeting where he told them that they were all competing and needed to come together and work together. Following that meeting, Joshua Lwere began to focus on how to impact and influence the nation. As he studied, he discovered that the Church’s “currency” is “influence”…and that it is God’s way to “influence” leaders

Lwere knew that in order to cross over denominational lines, prayer and humility were necessary keys. Understanding humility enabled him to pay for breakfast or lunch for other pastors, where he would engage them in prayer and then together, they would build a network.

“The things that you have heard from me among many witnesses,

commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

2 Timothy 2:2

We pray:

  • Lord, let us desire the gift of humility, so that we can serve others and in that, You will make a way for us to come together in serving You…and influence our nation’s leaders and people! Pray.

Although it was often hard for the pastors to see their need to walk together in order to disciple the nation, that became Joshua Lwere’s focus…and has been…for the last 14 years.

  • Now, the network he founded, the National Fellowship of the Born Again Pentecostal Churches, has 14 regions with Bishops,  37 Provincial Overseers, 167 district and municipal overseers…in 1,973 networks.
  • Nobody is paid; each leader is required to support himself with his own money.  Lwere says: “I am a businessman, a pastor, a husband. I don’t even get a salary from my church that I started myself.” Pray.

At first, it was hard to get pastors to see beyond the local church. They had to be taught to reach out to their region… and then, to their nation. As the Pastors listened, they learned to see beyond. Let us do the same as we read and pray through the interview with our brother Joshua!

Q. “What do you say to pastors to help them see that their calling goes beyond their church?”

A. “The typical pastor only pastors his people. It is very difficult to get the pastor to see that his calling goes beyond the 200-300 or so people in his congregation, that he must pastor the whole village.

  • The typical pastor prays about his own people. A governor would pray for the needs of all  in the region…the orphan children, the roads. So, if you are God, and a pastor and a Governor come to You, and the pastor is praying for the keyboard, drums and cameras and the Governor is praying for poverty, hospitals, who would You listen to first?” He tells the pastors God will listen to the Governor, because by listening to him, all the pastor’s prayers will also be answered. Their congregants will benefit from the Governor’s programs!  Pray.

Q. “What about a pastor who says it’s not my responsibility to pray for the leaders?”

A:  It is our responsibility, according to the scriptures. When we fail as the church, others take responsibility.

  • Education is the responsibility of the church.  Taking people and community out of poverty is the responsibility of the church. It is when the church fails, the state takes those responsibilities. Example; the family. Can the state take responsibility for children? No, that is given to parents. Each child is unique and it needs parents.  When the state takes over that responsibility, it will not do it well because it does not have the divine mandate.
  • So many of the societal issues that the state has taken on are not what it is mandated to do… and it is so expensive,  so difficult.”  Pray.

Q. “Education, Family, welfare, medicine and all these things…Why have we as the church let those things go?”

A:  Because 150 years ago here there was a change in focus in the USA.

  • Your Founding Fathers focus was the whole nation. Politics, education, 108 schools were started by your Founding Fathers. They believed in disciplining the whole nation… and that resulted in American sending 94% of missionaries…and the rest of the world sending only 6%Americans went forth to bless everyone!.
  • The focus changed after the Civil War…from ekklesia to congregating. The typical pastor was “all about me”, “my congregation”, building a big stadium, building a big congregation…and whether the people were disipled or not was no longer a big issue… as long as they congregated.

Ekklesia is the Greek word meaning “church” in the New Testament…people called out …not to congregate…but to legislate on behalf of God. Pray.

Q.  After the Civil War, preachers in the South, who had used the Bible to justify slavery,  lost the war. What we call “evangelicals” today are people who decided not to speak about any social issues…only about heaven and hell..and because of that, they no longer impacted the nation. In the North, they went the opposite way…thinking only about the social issues,  instead of preaching the Gospel.

A. That’s where the change took place. They were compromising. That change after the Civil War has greatly impacted the whole world because America took over from Britain and became the model for believers all over the world.  Now God is changing us…to take us back. Pray.

Q. Are there scriptures that talk about our responsibility to disciple nations?

A.  Many.

  • Right from the beginning with Abraham God says through you all the nations of the earth will be blessed.
  • God built an individual, then a family, and then the many tribes that came out of Jacob. He brought out a nation born in Egypt and called them His “first born”. Showing us how a nation is built, He takes a nation of slaves, gives them moral and civil laws, then uses the nation as the most powerful and prosperous in the Middle East.
  • So He is focused on the nations for the next 1,400 years
    • Look at Psalm 2. Ask of Me and I’ll give you the nations.
    • Psalm 66:7  God’s eyes behold the nations.
    • Psalms 110   The Lord says to my Lord sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.

God has always shown His purposes:

  • Genesis 11 at the tower of Babel, people start to rebel against Him, so He scatters the nations and He picks one nation.
  • After the day of Pentecost he comes back to the nations.  He picked one nation and left all the nations to go their own way. In Acts 2, He comes back to all the nations. The tongues show that  God is after the nations. He mentions 14 languages.  He’s now saying I’m back for all the nations.
  • How about the great commission? Matthew emphases the nations. “All authority has been given to me, go ye therefore.” Why? Because the authority we lost in Genesis 3, we now have back…go get the nations. Go disciple them all. Pray.

Q. How important it is to increase our vision from just a few people to nations. What results in Uganda have you seen?

A. We have focused on the spheres of influence, arts, entertainment, sports, education, and government as well. Because of the background that we’ve had in religion and after the Civil War here, the majority of people don’t want to talk about the government, they think politics are dirty and don’t want to get involved. No! God wants the righteous in authority. “When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice.” Proverbs 29:2

  • The impact of teaching the pastors was great! Since we pastor the whole community, we have learned to go beyond our local church. After the election, we had all these newly elected leaders. They respect the pastors highly because they speak their language. Many leaders are not believers, so we take time preaching and teaching the principles of God’s Kingdom to those in leadership. “Come, come, you need to listen to this. This is what we are to be.“  We are to disciple the whole community…to teach them, even before they become born again.
  • Since 2013 we have retreats for leaders. Every three months do retreats for Corporate leaders, judges, members of parliament, education. We put in a language they can understand.  A muslim leader said “after 3 days, I have never heard this. It’s like I haven’t bathed for two weeks and now I feel like I’ve been washed.”  He is saying what Ephesians 5 says about being washed by the word of God.  Pray.

Q. What kind of things do you teach?

A. We teach the principles of God’s Word and the effect in day to day life.  Paul says to those who have been stealing, steal no more, work.  Talk about the rules of sowing and reaping. If you have corruption, bring in a way that is relevant and anchor it in the Bible. That shift must come to the church. You cannot do it alone.  You have to disciple the entire nation. You have to go beyond your congregation to the Ekklesia.

Q. Where do I start?

A. In the Founders’ era, the pastors were the most educated in the community. Every pastor should have knowledge like the priest in the Bible, to speak into others. Come to the level where they are. God is not limited. Seek the Lord. He will give you strategy. We have a group of Pastors praying 3 mornings, for 2 hours each week, for 15 years. Now the Lord gives us the strategies.

  • As soon as a Mayor or other official is elected, visit them. We are commanded to pray for them. You start by serving them. You can lead anybody you serve. You start praying for them privately. Then the Lord will put them in a corner and only you will have the answer for something. Pray and sin no more. Give them a chance to repent. You don’t publish it. You go to them privately. You are after the change. You pray before you go and declare peace in the office so the demons run away. You start to talk to them and the power of God comes on you. Pray.

The Church will make a difference and decide which way a nation will go! We need to be the gatekeepers,  prophets and priests and rise to the occasion. The level of blessing in a nation is the amount of God’s word in that nation. So what you are enjoying today is the Word that was instilled in the whole of this nation from the foundations.  If you lose the Word, you lose the blessing. So, what you are doing is bring back the Word of God. You have to speak it. Declare the word. Proclaim it. It’s the Sword of the Spirit. When it comes to the Nation we are declaring God’s mind is on our nation. By proclaiming the scriptures,  we release the Word and then God opens a door for us in the spheres of government.

We pray:

  • Father, we thank you for Joshua, a servant of God, who speaks clearly and with humility. His words have touched our hearts. and encouraged us to be of greater service to You in our own nation. Pray.
  • Flood this nation with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord, so that once again, You will be revered and honored across this land. Pray.
  • In gratitude for the letter we sent to President Trump having reached his office. May we receive a speedily and affirmative response from him. Pray.
  • For an “appointed place” and an “appointed time” for our meeting with  President Trump! Pray.
