05-30-25 Notes from the “International SHABBAT Celebration” 

24/7 National Strategic Prayer Call

Ps Ioan opened in prayer and welcomed everyone to the call. He thanked Melissa (VA) for serving as our scribe tonight, since Maureen is in GA, attending the wedding of a dear friend’s son. Tomorrow, Saturday, she has set aside time to host a “Meet and Greet” for our 24/7 family members. They will be gathering from 1-6 PM at the Panera Bread at 1195 Woodstock Road in Roswell, GA 30075. All are welcome to come, receive a big HUG, and join in prayer together!

Ps Ioan then shared a bit about the history of our Shabbat Call, which convened shortly after the 24/7 NSPC started. There was a need to come together corporately, and have a time when we could ask God to heal and restore us as a family…a time when he could give us direction and show us what He wanted us to do next. On Friday nights, we enter into Shabbat to be with our Creator. Led by the Holy Spirit, we share in a time that is set apart where we are able to simply “BE” in the sweet, sweet Presence of the Lord.

Ps Ioan asked: “What do you suppose has happened to a person who needs to walk with a cane?” (an injury.)

Then he asked: “What do you suppose when you see a person with a shield? (getting ready for battle)

So, if you see a person with a cane, you suppose they have a problem walking. If you see a person with a shield, you suppose they are preparing to fight. If you see a person with a sword, you suppose they are ready to enter into battle. When a person is dressed in the armor of God, we suppose they are ready for battle.

 Question: Is it ALWAYS necessary to be wearing the Armor of God? What about when we are in His Presence?

 Melissa (VA): No, He IS the armor of God!

Ps Ioan: God is graciously giving us His armor. He is our Defender, our Protector. We rejoice in the Presence of God, with one another, when He calls us into His Presence. He doesn’t expect us to be dressed in armor. Like young David, when he went against Goliath, he did not wear armor; he only had a sling and a stone! When we are in the Presence of God, we experience the sweet fellowship of God… THAT provides protection. There is a time for war and a time for rest and peace (like King Solomon said). The purpose of the Shabbat Call is to rest in Him. We receive the armor when we meet on our Tuesday call, which is dedicated to praying for protection over President Trump. For that, we need the full armor of God. Ps Ioan said, but I thought, what about tonight? Do we put on the armor when we enter His presence, or do we come as we are? 

Melissa (VA): No, we come as we are because when we enter into His Presence. He is our Protection

Ps Ioan: Come with praises and thanksgiving. Deliverance is coming! We are in a continual warfare. As we worship, deliverance is coming. Let us all start to worship. Let’s come into the Presence of God with praise and thanksgiving. Stay in the presence of God. Let’s start with a time of worship. Let our hearts and minds be completely devoted to God.

  Fifi (SC): We are created for Him, we are family.

Ps Ioan: The Lord is speaking visions in His Living Word. Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. This night, the Lord is speaking to us. Because we are with Him, He speaks to us. He’s imprinting our minds and souls. Whoever is hearing something, pray. Let’s have some of you share: 

Sherrill (TX): Something interesting happened to me this evening. I’m in assisted living. We normally hold hands and pray for our food at dinner. Tonight, the Lord said I want you to sing to me, and I did, and it was interesting… It’s like He’s calling us for a deeper walk and to worship Him. 

Danielle (SC): He’s calling us to come up higher. When we speak that Hallelu Yah!, we are speaking the very attributes of Who He is. An impossibility made possible. Undeniable. We’ve been practicing saying Hallelu Yah! for the impossible to be made possible. A neighbor called me crying with a prayer request: “I have a 12-year-old born with autism, and she cries all morning long. Another intercessor and I asked God for a miracle for her to stop crying. Later, the neighbor called saying she had stopped crying that morning and never cried again. We’re starting to see miracles. Two days ago, a young man from Spartanburg, SC, said the Lord put it on his heart to gather congregations…all who are willing… and he is coming to various Counties to worship and praise God and release the Holy Spirit in SC. We will see what Counties and cities he will be coming to. God is benevolent, loyal, and steadfast, showing mercy, forgiving us. He reigns supreme. He’s calling us to come up higher. Most people don’t want “the more” because there’s a price to pay.

Just them, Maureen entered the call and said she’s slipped away for a minute to check in on the call, and express her love for our 24/7 family! After she shared the address for the “Meet and Greet” tomorrow, she told us that her heart was heavy for President Trump and that we needed to be praying mightily for him! She felt the Lord is preparing to step into the circumstances he’s been facing for many years, and that President Trump is about to “turn the corner” on many of the situations! GLORY TO GOD! After encouraging us, she departed!

Ps Ioan shared John 8:31-47, which he had spoken about last Tuesday, and asked Maureen to read this text: 

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.

32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 

35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 

36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 

37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 

38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.”

39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do what Abraham did. 

40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 

41 You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 

43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 

44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!

46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 

47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

Ps Ioan then elaborated on this passage: This word was addressed to the Jews, after the woman in adultery was brought to Jesus to be judged. He had compassion on her, and told them: “whoever is without sin, throw the first stone”…and they all dropped their stones and left…and she lived! Ps Ioan said he has been contemplating vs 44:

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.” KJV

That is an even stronger statement that in the New KJV:

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.” NKJV

We are all vulnerable to the temptation to sin, caused by the demonic. We must intentionally RESIST EVIL and the devil will flee! Ps Ioan said he is prompted to call us all to the RADICAL HOLINESS God requires!

The word “murderer” in vs 44 caused Cain’s sin…killing Abel…

and from that point, destruction has gone on and on!

47 “He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” 

The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” 

Let us hear and stay free through radical holiness!

Ps Ioan went on to explain: In this world, there are people who can hear the voice of God; those are His children. Then, there are people who can’t hear the voice of God; those are not His children.

Murder in Greek is “Atropoktonos” (which means murderer of men.) Satan is literally against mankind.

Human beings are created in the image of God. Whoever believes in God and accepts His sacrifice and Lordship receives salvation (eternal life). The Lord says that it is the only way to be in God.

Looking at the Inauguration of President Trump, we can see how God places angelic beings as protectors in the United States and in different regions of the country. Why is there so much resistance…so much fighting? Very dark, very evil. The Lord said that when the light starts to shine, the darkness is exposed. The scriptures remind us that He does not want to lose anybody…including those who have been deceived into acting as proxies, who entered into evil. Now is the battle to conquer the United States of America for God. For that, we need Radical holiness. We must deal with the flesh as we pursue this journey into radical holiness. One thing I asked the Lord…take me into Your Presence. The evil one must have His permission to attack my being, We must not give the evil one anything that he might use against us! Ps Ioan said that he had a conversation with the Lord, not only for himself to be set free, but for all our brothers and sisters as well.

? Are we assigned to pray for the most powerful person on the planet at this time? Yes

We are special. We are God’s. Radical holiness is not an empty word. There are many evil spirits trying to attach to us, to harm us, to get us sick. It is God’s will to set us free, to heal us, to restore us completely, to enable us to do the work we are doing. We are then to go out and restore others! We become filled with the light of God, and as children of God, we are joint heirs with Christ! 

I asked the Lord to allow us to worship tonight and to set us free. Our calling is to be the watchmen of the nation to the most powerful man on earth right now. We are set apart to be the watchmen of the nation. We declare in unison, in one accord, in one mind, one soul: the 24/7 NSPC is set apart for You. We welcome the Spirit of Truth. We don’t welcome any evil spirits. We say to satan: you are not our master, you are not our lord. Move away from us. You have no right to any part of our beings, no right to our physical bodies, our minds, souls. Cleanse us from all of the darkness. We bind all evil spirits and cast them down into the abyss. Agree, bind, and cast down into the Abyss. Individually invite the Holy Spirit to release truth in us

 We prayed into this corporately!

Word from the Lord: “You are my children and this is a testimony of His living word. I am a Child of God.” 

(Yes, we are your children. God is our Father.)

Ps Ioan: Lord, may You baptize all of us with Your Holy Spirit and fire. Baptize us as a family, all together. Purify us. Give a Hallelu Yah! to our Father …(repeating Hallelu Yah! corporately) And I hear the word of the Lord: The Lord Jesus Himself has called us individually and corporately. He also said: There is no Judas among you. Bring us together in His love and holiness.

I believe the intervention of Maureen was of God when she called in tonight about President Trump. She rejoices in the Presence of God and prays that he (President Trump) may be refreshed. Our high calling is to protect this most important man on earth. Why is it so difficult to oppose President Trump at this time? 

3 M – Mormons, Muslims and Masons

The globalist, socialist, demonic powers are manifesting. They want him to be destroyed. Satan is a murderer. He tried to kill President Trump. He’s facing all of these attacks daily. There are so many who want him to be taken down.

Are we in agreement to ask the Lord to pray for President Trump? Yes 

Before we entered into our intercession this evening, we first received the “armor of God” …to clothe and protect us! Danielle (SC) led us in praying Ephesians 6!

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, 

against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,

 and having done all, to stand. 

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 

and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 

Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 

praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”

Ephesians 6:10-18

We prayed corporately, receiving that precious armor, asking that we might wear it with the dignity it deserves! 

Ps Ioan: We must be covered. Do not go to the greater battle without being covered in the armor of God.

Lord, we receive Your armor, knowing it gives us the safety and protection to be able to pray for President Trump, for him to be delivered from all that threatens his mind, body, emotions, etc.

We prayed corporately for President Trump’s deliverance, then Ps Ioan invited individual prayers, saying we raise up our shields and ask that the Lord surround President Trump with your angels. We bless Melania and the White House as a secure place of rest for our President. 

Danielle (SC): Shield him from negative influences that would be a distraction. May Your Presence be a 

shield over his mind and body. I release Psalm 121:7-8 “The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” We said “yes and amen!”

Bobby (WI) 1 Kings 4:29-34 “And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men—than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five. Also, he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish. And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.” We prayed and released this upon our President. Not only grant him wisdom, but also a heart of understanding. that he would be respected. He was stripped of that unjustly. Restore that to him. All glory and honor that was taken away. From him will be given back to him! 

Mary Ellen (IL) Matthew 17:1-5 “Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, [a]let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” She saw a vision with a coin, like a quarter. On one side was as when we wear the armor. We are covered. On the other side, as we go before God, we are without it. Draw President Trump and Melania into your Holy Presence. Let them see You face to face. Let them know that You are speaking to them. 

Bernadette (NY) had a real burden in my heart that there are two Muslims who have been terrorists and served prison time. They were assigned to the Religious Liberty Commission. Remove anybody who wishes evil on President Trump and this nation. Cover him in the blanket of your love. Thank you for the love You poured out on him today in PA. The steelworkers loved him after he brought many steelworker jobs to PA. I pray he rest in the love of the people of America who genuinely love him and care for him, and let him feel Your Presence and Your love.

Just before 9 PM, we paused once more to pray for all who were and still are J6 prisoners.

We continue to stand with them and their families until we see them free, 

returned to their lives and loved ones, and compensated for the injustices they have suffered! 

We then joined Anita (NJ) in singing the National Anthem from all across the nation, 

after which Cindy blew the shofar.

Statement by President Trump: 

“Other than the Rigged Presidential Election of 2020, the Biggest Scandal in American History is the “AUTOPEN!” Whoever used it was usurping the power of the Presidency, and it should be very easy to find out who that person (or persons) is. They did things that a Joe Biden, of sound mind, would have never done, like, Open Borders, Transgender for everyone, men in women’s sports, and far more. Fear not, however, we will bring America BACK, BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!”

Today at the Oval Office press conference, President Trump said we know who used it. It was not Biden. For 4 years this country was in the hands of an imposter. These people must be held accountable. Pray for the whole autopen scandal to be exposed and go back onto the people who gave the orders to use the autopen and run the country at that time.

There was a man named Cashel, who showed statistics re: 2020 election fraud. Today he was at WH and was reassured that things are on their way to being exposed. 

Corporate prayer …followed by individual prayers.

Bernadette (NY) That You would bring all hidden things into the light…whoever was running the presidency the last four years. Let not the aides nor the people be blackmailed, just bring out the truth. That they would go before righteous judges and pay because You love justice. We pray that You would vomit out of Your mouth everyone that is involved in this debauchery and cover-up. Remove them from their positions. Those who repent, let them repent but that they pay. Be naked before the world.

Carol (TX) Scripture righteousness and justice are the foundation of the throne. We ask for truth to be revealed. You would expose the people who were in power and authority and may the media be held accountable. That they would not be kept in these positions of authority. I pray also for our brother, Donald John Trump. For his friend, Elon Musk that their relationship continue to grow and that the only people advise him are Christians and remove those two Muslims from his group of confidantes.

  Bobby (WI) May those who placed Muslims in place be held accountable.

Ps Ioan: Asked: Are Mormonism and Islam Similar? Then he shared how Mormonism and Islam have the same foundations. Most cults have similarities. Although Mormonism and Islam have their foundations in two different millennia (7th and 19th centuries) in two different hemispheres, while advocating two different belief systems, they also have some similarities. 

A book entitled Mormonism, America’s Islam by Bruce Kinney gives us a list of some of the similarities between Muhammad and Joseph Smith: 



Visited by an angel.


Given visions.

Told that no true religion existed on the earth.


Was sent to restore the long-lost faith as the one true religion.


A book produced from their teachings claimed to be “inspired by God.”


Each claimed to be illiterate or uneducated and used this as proof the book was inspired.


Each claimed the Bible was lost, altered, corrupted and unreliable. 


Each claimed his new holy book was the most correct and perfect book on earth. 

Each claimed to be a final prophet of God.


Each claimed he was persecuted because of his pure faith. 

Each was a polygamist who had many wives. 


Upon their deaths a fight broke out from among the “faithful converts” as to who would succeed them.


Both religions have those who follow the “original doctrine” of the founding leaders and like these founding leaders, have been violent, polygamists, and have revelations justifying their evil actions. 


Each has progressive revelation. 

Former Mormon, Ed Decker, Founder and International Director of Saints Alive in Jesus, compiled his own list: 
 

Both belief systems teach that they have the only true and complete religion on face of the earth. 


Both reject Christianity as corrupted. 


Both taught the plurality of wives, both on earth and in here-after.


Both teach that the Bible is corrupt and mistranslated.

Both revealed God’s true scripture.


Both reject original sin and the doctrine of the Trinity.


Both teach a salvation by good works.


Both use a lay clergy.


Both founded by a holy uneducated prophet.


Both founding prophets had angelic visitations that they were to restore Adamic religion.


Both prophets’ words were above scripture or earlier prophets.


Both teach a theocratic form of government.


Both teach a here-after with graded rewards for works.


Both claim to be the world’s fastest-growing religion. 

Dr. Michael Youssef, the Founder and President of Leading The Way, states the following in his blog “Common threads between Islam and Mormonism”: 

It’s hard to believe that two religions that are worlds apart geographically have so many things in common. Here are some examples:

1. Both believe that Christianity was corrupt and incomplete until their respective founders came on the scene. For Islam, it was Muhammad; for Mormons, it was Joseph Smith.

2. They both have their own book of “sacred scripture.” While both tip their hats to the Bible, each see God’s Word as insufficient by itself. Both Islam and Mormonism use many biblical themes, narratives and personalities. But the Qur’an draws heavily from the apocryphal books rather than the authoritative cannon of the Bible.

3. In both cases, Islam and Mormonism see their religion as complete within itself. Above all, both repudiate biblical Christianity and identify orthodox Christianity as a false faith.

4. Both religions reject the doctrine of the Trinity. The Mormons’ concept of god includes many gods, not just one. Muslims view god as one, but as an aloof, remote god who could never become a man or relate to humanity. Allah can have mercy if he wants to, but he is also a cunning god.

5. Both religions reject the Bible as the sole and sufficient authority of faith. For Mormons, the Book of Mormon and other writings of the Latter-day Saints represent God’s final revelation. For Muslims, the Qur’an and the Sunnah (traditions of Muhammad) constitute God’s final authoritative word.

6. They both reject the biblical teaching of original sin. Muslims believe Adam did not become completely depraved after disobeying God; he merely slipped but quickly recovered. Therefore to Muslims, humanity does not need redemption. Salvation in Islam is very uncertain, even when keeping the Five Tenants of Islam; although some teach that jihad will help in that quest for salvation. Mormons believe that they are not condemned by what many call “original sin.” In other words, they are not accountable for Adam’s transgression in the Garden of Eden.

There is another similarity implied in the lists above: both are cults disproven by the Bible.

Ps Ioan then spent 10 minutes talking about darkness overtaking parts of the US. after which, others shared:

Anita (NJ): as you were talking, I was thinking about the man Jesus delivered who had a demon. Feels very strongly about going on a fast. Found out some of the witches and warlocks are more devoted to fasting than the Body of Christ. 

Susan (GA): extend the prayer that we prayed over President Trump. Give him understanding and discernment about who is for the Lord and who is not and how to deal with it. 

Melissa (VA): that God would cause a turning of hearts of those who were brought to do evil to our country and that God would turn it for good. Though they were brought to do us harm, that God would cause them to hear the Gospel, capture their hearts and be made known amongst those in their same tribes, that speak the same language and are from their same communities, and then that they be sent out to others among them so that the light of God will pierce through the darkness. Let Your Light and love go out. Revival from heart to heart.

Ps Ioan: DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is trying to overturn the sanctuary city policy. I believe the Lord is changing the atmosphere in DC.

Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser Quietly Working to Reverse ‘Sanctuary City’ Policy

Did Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser start taking common-sense pills this year or something? Not only did she get rid of the huge BLM mural painted on a city street, she is now working to overturn the city’s ‘sanctuary city’ policy. She has reportedly done a complete about-face on this issue and wants to work with the Trump administration on illegal immigration. Will wonders never cease?

Amid President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) is doing an abrupt about-face from her previous views on enforcement, working to repeal a law that bars local police from assisting ICE. Bowser is quietly proposing to overturn the sanctuary city law, which prohibits D.C. officials from inquiring about a detainee’s immigration status, transferring individuals to ICE, or allowing ICE to interview suspects in local custody without a judicial order. “The mayor is asking for the repeal without fanfare, via a tucked-away provision as part of her newly released 2026 budget proposal,” according to Axios, which noted that “the D.C. Council has final say over what makes it into the budget, and some progressive members may thwart Bowser’s push.”

Bowser’s hawkishness on immigration marks a sharp change from the positions she’s held since becoming mayor in 2015. During Trump’s first term, she tweeted that D.C. is a “proud sanctuary city” and that she is “committed to protecting the rights of all our immigrant families” in the face of what she called Trump’s “disturbing” immigration crackdown. This is amazing. What changed? We don’t know what changed Bowser’s mind, but this is a welcome development.

Kim (NY): May the good message spread from DC outside the US. 

Melissa (VA): Thank God for the change of the atmosphere in DC and for the turning of hearts, especially the mayor of DC, Muriel Bowser. She is trying to overturn the sanctuary city policy. Thank you for Your promises over our capital and over our nation. We cannot go by what we see. We will walk by faith and not by sight. Whose report are we going to believe? I am going to believe the report of the Lord. Thank You Lord, for Your report. You are good. Just as the call started (right at 7:00 pm EST), I received an alert for a tornado in Arlington. The winds were howling, and the rain was coming down hard, and then I received another tornado alert. About an hour and a half later, I noticed that the rain had stopped and the winds were no more. The storm had passed. In the same manner, just as in the natural, the sun went down and we entered into a Shabbat rest, may God have caused the storm in the spiritual realm to have passed.

Ps Ioan: Tax cuts, 22% Gross Domestic investment, lower gas prices, secure investments $11T in last 2.5 months. Consumer confidence in May highest, far surpassing economists’ expectations. Invest now.

Consumer Confidence Surges, Majority Says We’re on “Right Track” – Joe Hoft

The following is from the Trump team. “Despite doomsday prophesizing by the ‘experts,’ President Trump’s America First economic agenda of tariffs, tax cuts, rapid deregulation, and domestic energy production continues to pay off. Today’s consumer confidence report reflects multiple solid inflation and jobs reports that Americans have seen under President Trump, as well as a GDP report that showed a whopping 22 percent spike in Gross Domestic Investment in Q1 2025.” — White House. As President Trump tames inflation, lowers gas prices, equalizes trade, and secures historic investments, Americans are feeling the results of the new Golden Age. Consumer confidence surged in May with the biggest monthly jump in four years, according to the Consumer Confidence Index, far surpassing economists’ expectations. Bloomberg: “A gauge of consumer expectations for the next six months surged by the most since 2011, while a measure of present conditions climbed as well, data released Tuesday showed. The improvement in confidence was broad across age and income groups as well as political affiliations.” A majority of Americans say the country is on the right track for the first time in decades, according to new polling, while the RealClearPolitics polling average for the direction of the country is at its most favorable since May 2021.

‘Elon is terrific’: Trump bids farewell to Musk on his final day at DOGE

For the past four months, Donald Trump and Elon Musk have been largely inseparable. And so it was on Friday, in a press conference called to mark the tech billionaire’s departure from the White House.

US President Donald Trump gave Elon Musk a warm send-off on Friday, the tech billionaire’s final day in his White House position. Musk had been granted special government employee status to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). During his short but turbulent stint in government, Musk oversaw major cuts to the federal workforce as part of Trump’s administration’s efforts to reduce federal spending. He set a lofty $2 trillion goal in reducing federal spending – something he twice revised down, landing at a reduced $150 billion. It is unclear whether that target has been hit, although the DOGE website tallies $175 billion in savings; its information has been riddled with errors and embellishments.

Trump celebrated Musk’s tenure at a White House press conference, presenting him with a gold-coloured key for his work establishing DOGE – a gift for “very special people”. He responded by saying the bruise had happened when he was “horsing around” with “little X” his five-year-old son. “I said, go ahead punch me in the face,” he said. “And he did.”

Musk’s White House departure comes as allegations of drug use were reported in the New York Times on Friday.

During the Oval Office send-off, Musk abruptly cut short a question about the report, which claimed he had used drugs “intensely” during Trump’s election campaign. When a reporter tried to raise the article, Musk broke across him; questioning the newspaper’s reputation before saying: “Let’s move on.”

Trump credited Musk with a “colossal change in the old way of doing business in Washington”, adding he’ll be “back and forth” to keep tabs on what’s happening with the administration. Musk, sporting a T-shirt that said “The Dogefather”, said he thought the “DOGE team is doing an incredible job” and said that they are “totally committed to making the DOGE cuts permanent”.

Musk had begun stepping back from full-time government work in recent weeks, to focus on his companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, which have struggled in part as a result of Musk’s alliance with the Trump administration. Tesla’s profits plunged 71% in the first three months of the year, with his social media platform X needing to rebuild its advertising base, after long-time advertisers fled when Musk bought the platform back in 2022. He confirmed his departure from the White House in a post on X on Thursday. Under Musk’s leadership over the first four months of the Trump administration, DOGE has upended the federal government. At least 121,000 federal workers were laid off or targeted for layoffs in Trump’s first 100 days, and thousands more took buyout offers. Federal grants and programs have been slashed, and then at times reinstated after court challenges.
