Moving in the Warfare of Love
Bringing in Godly Advisors
“Then I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; After that you will be called the city of righteousness, A faithful city.”
Isaiah 1:26
Strategic Targets for today:
In a world with many voices speaking, we need, more than ever, the ability to discern and have clarity of focus when deciding what is truth. Today God is raising up true Godly Advisors within the Church and the Nation. Who is speaking in your ear? Who has the ear of the Pastor, the President, and your children? We must be Intentional with our prayers if we are to fully accomplished the assignments at hand. The question is raised: “What is the role of an Advisor?” It is vital for us to understand the answer to this question, as many are raising up to speak over us in each of the foregoing areas.
Pray that we receive God’s counsel through the resource of Godly Advisors. Prepare our minds and hearts to receive God’s Word, not man’s. An Advisor advises and does not implement nor decide what the person or organization will do; they simply make recommendations. We use Godly Wisdom to decide what advice we will follow and what advice we will choose to reject. May our national and church leaders grasp this revelation!
A perfect example of this Focus is South Carolina. Because of Godly advisors, she was the first state to ratify the Articles of Confederation, however years later, after listening to other advisors, she turned in rebellion against those very same Articles.
“ADVISOR” DEFINED:
adviser |ədˈvīzər| (also advisor)
noun
a person who gives advice, typically someone who is an expert in a particular field: the military adviser to the president.
chiefly North American (in a school, college, or university) a teacher or staff counselor who helps a student plan a course of study: my adviser might switch me back into Wasserman’s class.
usage: The spellings adviser and advisor are both correct. Adviser is more common, but advisor is also widely used, especially in North America. Adviser may be seen as less formal, while advisor often suggests an official position.
advisory |ədˈvīzərē|
adjective
having or consisting in the power to make recommendations but not to take action enforcing them: an independent advisory committee | the Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the government.
– recommended but not compulsory: universities may treat the recommendations as advisory.
ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS:
“An advisory board is a body that provides non-binding strategic advice to the management of a corporation, organization, or foundation. The informal nature of an advisory board gives greater flexibility in structure and management compared to the Board of Directors. Unlike the Board of Directors, the advisory board does not have authority to vote on corporate matters or bear legal fiduciary responsibilities. Many new or small businesses choose to have advisory boards in order to benefit from the knowledge of others, without the expense or formality of the Board of Directors”…..(Wikipedia)
