Strategic Focus for Sunday
WELCOME THE KING OF GLORY INTO THE UNITED STATES
The FEAR of the LORD – Day 2
Celebrating the Epiphany – Wise men still seek Him!
“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him…And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.”
Matthew 2:2, 11
What the world desperately needs today is fresh encounter with God…an Epiphany! At the first Epiphany, men who did not know God saw a “sign” and came from afar…following a star. They were rewarded for their persistence with a personal encounter with the Incarnate Living God, in the Person of Jesus Christ. When He revealed Himself to them…they worshipped Him and had their breakthrough…making the transition from darkness to light!
As intercessors, we are praying for an Epiphany, a revelation of Jesus, to those who do not know Him! We long to see that breakthrough in our nation…an awakening that will sweep across our nation…and usher in the long anticipated transition from darkness to light. For those “who have ears to hear”, there is a holy alarm sounding in the earth, calling the Bride of Christ to awaken, arise and prepare herself to welcome her Bridegroom King!
“Behold, thy King cometh!”
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation…”
Zechariah 9:9
The world will have its final Epiphany when the King of Glory, the Lord of the Harvest, Jesus Christ, our Kinsman-Redeemer, steps in and takes His rightful place to rule and reign! His Bride will be standing at His side! The people will look upon her and ask in amazement:
“Who is this, coming out of the wilderness, leaning on the arms of her Beloved?”
Song of Songs 8:5
This is the destiny of God’s people…and it is quickly approaching! He is coming! Amen! Alleluia!
For the time being, we are to be ”about our Father’s business,” responding daily to His call, interceding and staying in intimate communion with Him as we wait in joyful expectation for that Glorious Day! While embracing the Great Commandment, we are fulfilling the Great Commission, flowing in an anointing of love with those who serve God! Together, we will disciple the nations, and go with Him into the fields to bring in the promised “end time harvest”! ALLELUIA!.
The picture of what is to come delights our hearts, but right now, we are at war! There is a battle raging…but we rejoice in that we already have the victory! Breakthrough is coming! Our Deliverer is coming!
We pray:
- That, following the example of the wise men, many would earnestly seek the Lord while He may be found.
- That we as a nation might receive ever increasing grace and the ability to receive more and more from The Lord daily! We need You, Jesus! Come and touch our lives and cause us to bring GLORY to You and to Your Kingdom in the days that are coming!
- Even now, Lord, we are praying for that glorious end-time harvest! Let it be one that glorifies You magnificently! We cry: “Maranatha! Even so, come Lord Jesus!”
~~~~~
Our nation was brought forth by God. Our Found Fathers had their Epiphany…and they had the understanding of “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God”. In drafting the Declaration of Independence, they referred to God, saying that “We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world…” There was no debate; God was in control… and it was the “norm” to call upon Him for guidance in times of need, in making decisions and in governing this new nation!
At the outset, our government, our Congress, our people and our nation were all dedicated and consecrated to God. When we watch what today’s rebellious “resistors” in Congress are up to, we fear for them, realizing that through their words and actions, they are bringing judgement down upon their own heads. They have defiled GOD’s HOUSE…and He will not tolerate that!
Looking back at history, we can see that when the Temple was defiled, (and God was defied), He would often raise up a “champion” to deal with it…
- David led the armies of Israel in defeating the Philistines, killing their champion and removing his head!
- Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “…For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.”…David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. (Selections from 1 Samuel 17)
- He bought the ARK back into Jerusalem where it was placed “inside the tent David had pitched for it” 2 Samuel 6:17 … (forerunner to the Temple that his son Solomon would build).
- Judah of Maccabee led the Maccabean Revolt, killed the Syrian commander Apollonius, and took possession of his sword which he used until his death as a symbol of vengeance. He entered Jerusalem at the head of his army, purified the defiled Temple and instituted the permanent festival of eight days, Ḥanukkah, on the 25th of Kislev, in year 164 BC.
- Jesus entered the Temple and drove out those who were defiling it in His time.
- When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.” John 2:15-17
The “zeal of God” has also consumed us. Our well-being is utterly dependent on Him alone…and all other “gods”, to whom recognition or credibility are given, are powerless, useless, deceptive “inventions”. In this context God describes himself as “a jealous God”:
‘You shall not bow down and worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God’
Exodus 20:5
Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God’
Exodus 34:14.
The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath’
Nahum 1:2
This jealousy of God arises in the fact that He is the only God, and He has a deep and unchangeable love for us.
- That is expressed in His numerous acts of redemption, in particular, in sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from our allegiance to any other god.
- It is also expressed in His acts of judgement, in which he minimizes, curtails, and will ultimately remove all that threatens and undermines both His Glory and our good.
As intercessors, we are listening intently to God, and “charged” to take great care to pray in accordance with His plan and purposes, not against what He is doing. (This can happen when we allow our emotions to cause us to pray with “false” compassion…a “counterfeit” compassion to authentic Godly compassion). When the Lord is rightfully executing His judgment against those who have defied Him, and won’t relent or repent, we dare not stand in His way!
Last year, we heard the word “undermining” continuously! It seemed to “pepper” much of our intercession…but this year, the word “counterfeit” is highlighted! It speaks to counterfeit issues, such as counterfeit justice, legislation, authority!
As the people of God, we embrace only the “authentic”, and do not tolerate counterfeits! Let us watch and pray…and as they emerge, we will identify, bind and see them removed!
With everything we have been dealing with of late that is negative, let’s enjoy a couple of positive reports:
- Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) said the shutdown was ridiculous and that he was willing to work with anyone who wants to work with him. He also said clearly about Donald Trump: “He is my President!”
We pray:
- That the example of this one man giving honor where honor is due might catch on in Congress and replace the abusive language being used by others on the far left! Bless Manchin, Lord!
- Offering one solution to the brokenness in Washington, DC, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), along with Representative Francis Rooney (R-FL) and Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Mike Lee (R-UT), and David Perdue (R-GA), proposed a joint resolution as an amendment to the Constitution that would set term limits on members of Congress. Cruz said: “Our Founding Fathers, Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson refused to consider public service as a career. Our history is replete with examples of leaders who served their country for a time and returned to private life, or who went on to serve in a different way. It is long past time for Congress to hold itself accountable. I urge my colleagues to submit this constitutional amendment to the states for speedy ratification.” US Senators would be limited to two six-year terms and members of the US House of Representatives would be capped at three two-year terms. The process to amend the Constitution begins with the joint resolution, in Congress and then the proposed language of the amendment must be approved by two-thirds of both chambers, according to the National Congress of State Legislatures. Once approved by Congress, at least three-fourths of the states must ratify the amendment for it to take effect.
We pray:
- That there would be agreement between the House and Senate on this joint resolution, and that it would be approved overwhelmingly in the States, making the changes necessary to help restore the initial purposes for serving in Congress!
