We pray for the protection of our President, Donald Trump and cover him with the Blood of Jesus.

We continue to pray that every spirit operating on or through those who are opposing our President will be bound and cast into the abyss, so people will have an opportunity to choose Christ…and LIFE!
We bless our First Lady, Melania, their young son Barron and each of their family members.
We also cover our Vice President Mike Pence, his wife Karen and their family with that Precious Blood,
and include all those in the Trump Administration who are serving You and our nation!

Scrap the LEMON Test!
“Those who war against you shall be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing.
For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

When most people see a World War I memorial cross, they remember American soldiers’ heroic sacrifice of their lives in Europe during that great war. It is a recognition of the soldiers’ shared faith, a hope that they may live on and a comfort to the generations of family they left behind. The Bladensburg Peace Cross has stood in Maryland for almost a century… a monument to fallen soldiers who served in the Great War. Yet, because it is a cross and sits on government land, it has become the target of “offended” humanists who insist, disregarding all constitutional context, that it is a violation of the Establishment Clause. Defenders of the cross argue that a cross on public land is not an “establishment of religion” under the original public meaning of the First Amendment.
One of our Founding Fathers, James Madison, the most influential framer of the Constitution, strongly opposed state religion because colonial Virginia was teeming with religious persecution. Preachers were jailed for simply publishing their religious views, and the official state religion was integrated with many parts of the government. This had a profound effect on Madison. When he wrote his draft of the First Amendment, Madison envisioned the Establishment Clause as the culmination of his philosophy on religion and government, with liberty of conscience as the centerpiece. His purpose was to ensure that people could exercise their faith free from compulsion. The Establishment Clause, thus, was a shield to defend “individual liberty of conscience.” He did not, however, fashion the Establishment Clause as a sword, to be used against innocuous religious symbols on government land.
We pray:
- In repentance for allowing these travesties to occur on our watch, and for those who came before us for not speaking out to stop them when they first arose. Help us to find our voices as a people who are proud of our history, remember it, learn from it…and preserve it!
- In thanksgiving for the foresight You gave to James Madison and our Founding Fathers which enabled them to carefully craft the foundational documents of this great nation over 200 years ago! Allow the original intent and purpose of their words and actions to be “recaptured” today, and return us the understanding they had so that we might apply it appropriately at this hour in our history!
For 90 years, the “Peace Cross” has stood as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by local soldiers in World War I. The American Legion, a Veterans Organization, erected the 40-foot Bladensburg WWI Veterans Memorial in 1925 on private land, with funds raised by the Legion, in order to honor 49 Bladensburg men who died in WWI. The memorial was designed by their mothers, and modeled after those memorialized in the celebrated poem “In Flanders Fields” that stood “row on row” to “mark [the] place” where their sons lay.

Today, the Peace Cross stands among a number of other World War I memorials. Since 1961, it has been owned by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission as a historic site. In 2014, as part of an all-out attempt by atheist activists to erase religious symbols from the public square, the American Humanist Association (AHA) sued to remove the memorial. They claim it is unconstitutional because public ownership and maintenance of the memorial violates the Establishment Clause in the First Amendment of the Constitution, which states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” The AHA is arguing that the Peace Cross is a government establishment of religion, but the Constitution does not require religion to be stripped from our nation’s history and culture. The cross is an internationally recognized symbol of sacrifice and loss and a frequently used symbol to honor fallen soldiers.
Kelly Shackelford, of First Liberty, attorneys for the American Legion, stated: “the Memorial does not violate the Establishment Clause because it bears none of the historical hallmarks of an establishment of religion…If this gravestone is bulldozed to the ground, it’s only a matter of time before the wrecking ball turns on Arlington National Cemetery and the hundreds of memorials like this one across the country.”
We pray:
- That the heart, soul and freedoms of this nation will no longer be vulnerable to the assaults of ungodly antagonists who seek to undermine and remove our historical roots of Christianity!
- That SCOTUS will clearly affirm the right of these monuments to STAND, and to be a visible sign of the sacrifice men and women of valor gave to ensure our rights to those freedoms today!
In October 2017, the US Court of Appeals at the Fourth Circuit ruled for the AHA against the memorial, using the notorious “Lemon test”, determining if a law has the effect of establishing religion. The American Legion believes that disagreement with something should not be confused with “forbidden” religious coercion by the government, and appealed to SCOTUS to reverse the Fourth Circuit’s decision and scrap the Lemon test, in favor of an approach that returns the Establishment Clause to its historical meaning.
- The “Lemon test” is notoriously vague and difficult to apply. It come from the 1971 SCOTUS case of Lemon v Kurtzman and states that government action violates the Establishment Clause unless it:
1. Has a significant secular (ie. non-religious) purpose,
2. Does not have the primary effect of advancing or inhibiting religion,
3. Does not foster excessive entanglement between government and religion.
It has been criticized harshly by many Supreme Court justices. The Court has largely avoided using this test because it muddles the Establishment Clause by adding a multitude of confusing, unworkable factors such as “secular purpose,” “primary effect,” “advances,” “inhibits,” “foster,” and “excessive entanglement.”
- As Former Justice Scalia humorously – and correctly – noted in one dissent, the Lemon test is “like an undead ghoul that haunts the Court’s jurisprudence and just won’t seem to go away”. The Court should do away with the ghoulish Lemon test and return to the original meaning of the Establishment Clause. Although it has been around for almost 50 years, it does not deserve the protection of the doctrine of stare decisis, a Latin term that protects precedent in order to “to stand by things decided” which plays a crucial role in American constitutional law.
- Decisions that are divorced from the original meaning of the Constitution, or have proven unworkable, or have been abandoned by many justices on the Court SHOULD NOT BE PROTECTED! Instead of relying on nebulous factors, it should rely on the original public meaning of the religious provisions of the First Amendment: to ensure liberty of conscience and to protect people from truly “established” state religions that coerce belief and support.
We pray:
- That the Court will overrule the current, ahistorical, incoherent Lemon test and replace it with a liberty-based principle that is guided by our nation’s history.
- Let the new standards protect individuals from ever being forced to participate in or directly finance religious exercise, or subjected to the creation of a government establishment of religion, while protecting any religious language or symbolism -including language or symbolism that someone might associate with religion – from banishment from the public square.”
There are those who have filed friend of the court briefs on behalf of preserving the memorial:
- An attorney for ADF said: “(the) Peace Cross honors veterans who gave everything to serve their country, but one group’s displeasure over the monument’s shape can’t diminish their sacrifice or dismantle their memory. The Supreme Court …has the opportunity to affirm that the offended feelings of someone driving by does not amount to a constitutional crisis. A passive monument like the Bladensburg Cross, which celebrates our veterans and acknowledges our nation’s religious heritage, simply does not amount to an establishment of religion.”
- ADF and K&L Gates asks the Court to ensure that “existing memorials are undisturbed and protected as public monuments to venerate the honor, valor, and sacrifice of those who have died in service to this country.”
A non-coercive, harmless monument – a cross memorial, or a Star of David, or any other religious symbol – is not an establishment of religion. Tearing down the memorial instead establishes an anti-religious orthodoxy, with a mandate that religious symbols be eradicated from public life to create a sanitized government. The Framers did not intend for that to happen, and the Court should ensure that the First Amendment gets the last word.
We pray:
- In agreement with the attorneys for the CROSS, First Liberty Institute of Plano, Texas and the Jones Day law firm, and ask that SCOTUS will rule in their favor.
- That it will be determined that removing the Bladensburg Memorial would not further religious liberty. It would only show disrespect for the brave service members the cross was meant to honor.
- That the very suggestion by the Fourth Circuit of Appeals that the cross should be removed or that its arms should be chopped off would be seen as the offensive statement that it is, and corrected.
- That this, and other monuments and memorials be protected by law from any and all from harm.

Praying for our President and his Administration
President Trump announced that the current US Ambassador to Canada, Kelly Craft, is his nominee for the position of US Ambassador to the UN. “I am pleased to announce that Kelly Knight Craft, our current Ambassador to Canada, is being nominated to be United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Kelly has done an outstanding job representing our Nation and I have no doubt that, under her leadership, our Country will be represented at the highest level. Congratulations to Kelly and her entire family!” Ambassador Craft emerged as a frontrunner in the race for the position on Thursday with the backing of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
We pray:
- Lord, Nikki Haley’s shoes are tough ones to fill, but we pray that Kelly Craft will receive the mantle, and serve our nation with grace and distinction. We cover her with the Blood of Jesus and pray that she will use the full armor of God as she steps into the international arena on behalf of the USA. Let her operate with courage, boldness and confidence, knowing that You are with her, to guard, guide and direct her as she serves as UN Ambassador!
